Hindu Vijayanagara Empire and Muslim Bahmani Sultanate contested for control of southern Indian territories.

The Bahmani Sultanate, an Islamic power in southern India, conducted sustained warfare against the Hindu Vijayanagara Empire. The conflicts involved siege warfare, cavalry battles, and capture of strategic cities. The wars created a frontier dynamic characterized by periodic major conflicts.

Bahmani-Vijayanagara conflicts established the pattern of Hindu-Muslim political competition in South India. The conflicts prevented either power from establishing unchallenged dominance.
