338 BCE · Macedon vs Greek coalition (Athens, Thebes and allies)

Philip II of Macedon, with his son Alexander commanding a wing, crushed a coalition of Greek city-states led by Athens and Thebes in Boeotia. The victory established Macedonian hegemony over Greece and ended the era of the independent Greek polis.
