1332 · Edward Balliol and the Disinherited (English-backed) vs Kingdom of Scotland
On 11-12 August 1332, a small force backing the claimant Edward Balliol, using dismounted men-at-arms flanked by archers, crushed a much larger Scottish army under the regent Donald, Earl of Mar, southeast of Perth. The first major battle of the Second War of Scottish Independence pioneered tactics later used at Halidon Hill and Crécy.
