1782 · Kamehameha's forces vs Kīwalaʻō's forces
Fought in 1782 in Kona on the island of Hawaiʻi, this was Kamehameha I's first major victory, in which his rival cousin Kīwalaʻō was killed. The battle left Kamehameha in control of much of the Big Island and launched his campaign of unification.
