1388 · Kingdom of Scotland vs Kingdom of England
In August 1388, a Scottish raiding force under James, Earl of Douglas, defeated an English army under Henry 'Hotspur' Percy in a night battle at Otterburn in Northumberland. Douglas was killed and Percy captured; the clash became celebrated in border ballad tradition.
