1865 – 1866 · Pai Mārire (Hauhau) Māori vs Colonial government and kūpapa Māori

A series of conflicts fought on the east coast of the North Island from April 1865 to October 1866 between colonial and allied Māori forces and supporters of the Pai Mārire (Hauhau) movement. The fighting, including the siege of Waerenga-a-Hika, was driven by land confiscation and religious upheaval.
