1837 – 1838 · Qajar Iran vs Principality of Herat
From November 1837 the Qajar shah Mohammad Mirza besieged Herat, defended by Kamran Shah and Yar Mohammad Khan; British pressure and a naval threat in the Gulf forced Persia to lift the siege in September 1838, a key episode of the Great Game.
