Also called the Northern War, fought between 11 March 1845 and 11 January 1846 around the Bay of Islands between Ngāpuhi led by Hōne Heke and Kawiti and British forces with allied Māori. It included the battles of Kororāreka, Puketutu, Ōhaeawai and the siege of Ruapekapeka Pā.
