What happened

Polish forces under Wladyslaw II and Lithuanian forces under Vitovt decisively defeated the Teutonic Order at Grunwald. The battle involved massive cavalry charges and demonstrated superior Polish-Lithuanian military organization. The Order's military dominance was permanently broken.

Grunwald established Polish-Lithuanian military superiority. The Order's decline presaged Prussian emergence as northern European power.
