Ahmose I's Nubian Campaigns

1530 BCE – 1520 BCE · Egypt vs Nubian kingdoms

New Kingdom pharaoh expanded Egyptian control into upper Nubia and established the gold trade infrastructure.

Ahmose I (1550-1525 BCE), the New Kingdom founder, conducted military campaigns into Upper Nubia seeking gold resources. Egyptian forces conquered Nubian territories and established mining operations. The campaigns secured the gold supply essential to Egypt's New Kingdom prosperity. Nubian populations were enslaved and/or displaced.

Nubian conquest enabled Egypt's New Kingdom expansion through gold acquisition. Gold supplies funded Egypt's imperial military and monumental architecture.
