Campaigns of 1639–1642 in which the Oirat Mongol leader Güshi Khan defeated the Beri king and the Tsangpa ruler, took Shigatse, and brought all Tibet under Gelug control, founding the Khoshut Khanate and installing the 5th Dalai Lama's Ganden Phodrang government.
