What happened
Lao kingdoms, particularly Lan Xang, conducted conflicts with Thai Sukhothai and Ayutthaya. Wars involved territorial disputes and tributary relationships. The conflicts established boundaries between Thai and Lao regions.
Why it mattered
Lao-Siamese conflicts defined modern Thailand-Laos boundaries. The wars prevented either side from establishing complete hegemony.
