What happened

Mali Empire expanded across West Africa through systematic military campaigns. Sundiata's victories established Mali dominance over the former Ghana Empire territories. Subsequent emperors continued expansion, consolidating control over gold and salt trade routes. Mali's military organization included cavalry units and administrative integration.
