An Indian Army operation from 1 to 10 June 1984 to remove Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and armed militants from the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. The assault on Sikhism's holiest site caused official casualties of 410 (disputed as far higher) and led to Indira Gandhi's assassination later that year.
