1893 · Rabih az-Zubayr's forces vs Kanem-Bornu Empire
In 1893 the Sudanese warlord Rabih az-Zubayr conquered the ancient Kanem-Bornu Empire and sacked Kukawa, ruling from Dikwa until his own state was destroyed by the French at Kousseri in 1900.
