1864 · Ngāi Te Rangi and allied Māori vs British Empire and colonial forces

A six-month conflict in the Bay of Plenty in early 1864 between Ngāi Te Rangi and British forces, marked by the British defeat at Gate Pā (Pukehinahina) on 29 April and their decisive victory at Te Ranga in June. The campaign led to the confiscation of large tracts of Tauranga Māori land.
