What happened

Thutmose III (1479-1425 BCE), Egypt's greatest military commander, dispatched forces into Nubia to suppress local rebellions and secure gold trade. Egyptian military organization and tactics proved superior to Nubian resistance. The campaign expanded Egyptian control deeper into Upper Nubia and Sudan.
