Toledo War

1835 – 1836 · United States

A near-bloodless boundary dispute (1835–36) between the state of Ohio and the Michigan Territory over the 468-square-mile 'Toledo Strip.' Both mustered militias, but the only casualty was a minor stab wound. Congress resolved it by awarding the strip to Ohio and granting Michigan statehood plus the western Upper Peninsula as compensation.
