What happened
The Toltec civilization, centered at Tula in central Mexico, influenced Post-Classic Mesoamerica through military expansion and cultural dissemination. Toltec military innovations, including emphasis on warrior cults and human sacrifice, spread to Maya regions. Chichen Itza shows evidence of Toltec military and cultural influence. Conflicts involved Toltec expansion and Maya resistance. By 1200 CE, Toltec power declined.
