1846 · British East India Company vs Sikh Empire
On 10 February 1846 the British East India Company army under Hugh Gough stormed the entrenched Sikh bridgehead at Sobraon on the Sutlej, the decisive battle that ended the First Anglo-Sikh War; thousands of Sikhs died when their pontoon bridge collapsed during the retreat.
